Valor of the Healer

Carina Press, Valor of the Healer, Vengeance of the Hunter

SURPRISE! Valor of the Healer and Vengeance of the Hunter sale!

Found out today that the first two books of the Rebels of Adalonia trilogy are on SALE. Valor of the Healer has been punted down to 99 cents, and Vengeance of the Hunter is currently selling at $1.24 (or at least on iBooks, $1.99).

These prices are showing up on all major ebook vendors, AND on itself.

EDITING TO ADD: Valor and Vengeance are both still on sale, but as of 4/8 the sale price for each is $1.49 on major ebook vendors. On Carina Press’s own site, however, the 99 cents price still applies for Valor, and the $1.24 price still applies for Vengeance.

EDITING TO ADD 6/1/2016: The prices have been adjusted again! Valor of the Healer is currently selling for $1.49, and Vengeance is selling for $2.49. So not as big of a sale, but still a sale compared to the usual $2.99 price point!

So right now you can read the entire trilogy for just over about five bucks on your favorite ereader! Snap it up fast if you haven’t already, because I will not be informed how long these prices will last. And do spread the word, won’t you?

Here’s a roundup of all the major places you can buy these books!

Valor: Carina Press | Amazon | Nook | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

Vengeance: Carina Press | Amazon | Nook | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

And as always, do remember that the Rebels of Adalonia novels are not standalones, so you need to read all three to get the entire story. The reading order is Valor of the Healer, Vengeance of the Hunter, Victory of the Hawk.

ETA: Where should you buy the book? I get slightly more money if you buy directly from Carina, but really, you should buy from wherever you find it easiest. If that means one of the other ebook vendors, go for it!

Valor of the Healer

Surprise Valor of the Healer sale!

Whoa hey, Valor of the Healer went on sale for 99 cents on Amazon–and I only just found out about this when I saw Valor‘s numbers start going up on NovelRank. So far this sale appears to be specific to–none of the other major vendors are price-matching, and Amazon’s international sites don’t appear to be picking up the price shift either.

But, if you’re a Kindle reader who buys from the US store, and you don’t already have Valor of the Healer, now would be a real good time to snap it up. I don’t know how long this price will be active, since I wasn’t warned this was going to happen! So jump on it now while the jumping is good.

If you know others who are US-based Kindle readers who you think might like the book, spread the word, won’t you? Or consider gifting it to someone! Amazon does let you do that! 😉 And don’t forget–Vengeance of the Hunter and Victory of the Hawk are both steals at $2.99, so you can plow through the whole trilogy quite inexpensively.

Valor‘s Amazon page is right over here.

Thanks to all to spread the word!

Meanwhile, for those of you on Scribd or Oyster

Smashwords deploys to both Scribd and Oyster, so if you subscribe to either of those services, you can find the Free Court of Seattle books there! Here are the links, which will be added to the books’ pages:

Faerie Blood:

Scribd | Oyster

Bone Walker:

Scribd | Oyster

On a related note, Harlequin has begun experimenting with putting material on Scribd as well. So if you’re a subscriber there you can ALSO read Valor of the Healer! The link for that is here and will be added to Valor‘s page as well.

Scribd does not yet have Vengeance of the Hunter, but they might pick it up if Valor shows some activity. So if you or any of your friends use the service, consider sharing the link around, mmkay? I will get paid for reads of the books on these services!

Bone Walker, Faerie Blood, Valor of the Healer, Vengeance of the Hunter, Victory of the Hawk

Wednesday news!

Today’s top story: screw Black Friday, we’re releasing the first single from the forthcoming Bone Walker soundtrack NOW! Because we CAN!

Dara’s got her post up about it right over here, in which you can stream the premaster mix of “Something’s Coming” right off of Bandcamp. If you’re inclined, you can buy that single. AND you can preorder the album!

If you backed the Kickstarter, you of course don’t need to actually buy it because we will be sending it to you. But DO spread the word! And check out the previews of the other tracks that’ll be coming!

We’ll be doing the official release for this thing at the next Conflikt in January, along with the release for the actual Bone Walker novel! SO EXCITING. Stand by for more on this as it happens!

As I think I’ve mentioned before, Dara and I are fans of the Doctor Who Podcast, one of the many Doctor-themed podcasts available for your listening pleasure. In addition to reviewing new episodes when they come out, they have extensive knowledge of the Classic-era series as well as the Big Finish audio range, and all of their presenters are just generally fun to listen to.

One of the things we find particularly charming about them is the jingle they wrote for whenever they review a Big Finish release! It goes like this:

Big Finish with Ian! And Michelle from across the Atlantic Ocean!
Ian from UK, and Michelle from the United States!
Reviewing Big Finish, sorting out the wheat from the chaff and nonsense
Saving you money on the ones that are not so good!

It’s insidiously catchy, enough that every time we hear it show up in an episode of the podcast, we start singing along. Hell, THEY’VE even songvirused themselves with it.

So the other night I said to Dara, “I wonder if this thing would work as a round!” And the fun thing about having a spouse with her own music studio? She can FIND OUT.

Behold! Dara’s round edition of the Doctor Who Podcast Big Finish Review Theme!

And while we’re on the topic of things you should signalboost, don’t forget, Faerie Blood is ON SALE for $2.99 until this coming Monday! All the details are right over here!

I will also honor the sale price for anyone who wants to buy the ebook directly from me in the format of their choice!

Last but DEFINITELY not least, Victory of the Hawk is now available for preorder as well AND has shown up on Goodreads. So if you’d like to get in some preorder love on Book 3 of the Rebels of Adalonia trilogy, NOW IS THE TIME! Links are on the Victory of the Hawk page!

And if you haven’t read Valor or Vengeance yet, now would also be a VERY good time to get caught up on those. If you haven’t read anything of my writing at all yet, or if you’ve just read Faerie Blood and aren’t sure whether you’d like my high fantasy, you can even see some shiny samples that’ll let you read up to 10 percent of each book, provided courtesy of Overdrive! The samples are available on the Valor of the Healer and Vengeance of the Hunter pages!

How to gift my books

And speaking of gifting, let’s talk a bit about how to give any of my books as gifts! Because as you might guess, this is a subject near and dear to my heart. 😀

Faerie Blood’s print edition

I will be happy to mail a copy of Faerie Blood‘s print edition anywhere in North America, either to you or to an address of your choosing, and I will totally sign it as well.

Overseas folks, please be advised that the cost of mailing an individual copy of the book is more than I actually ask for the book, so I’d recommend against that unless you REALLY want to pay the shipping charges. *^_^*;;

Regardless, contact me by email or the various social networks I’m on if you’d like to make arrangements.

All of my ebook editions

Faerie Blood, Valor of the Healer, and Vengeance of the Hunter are all available via the major ebook vendors. So if you want to give any of them as gifts to people, you should go to the ebook vendor of your choice and use its available functionality for giving gifts. (Note: Carina Press’s own site does not have gifting functionality, so if you’d like to give Valor or Vengeance as a gift, you should do so via one of the major ebook vendor sites.)

Instructions for how to gift a book on the Kindle are here.

Instructions on how to gift a book on the Nook are here.

Kobo apparently USED to have the ability to gift ebooks, but doesn’t currently now, given what I’m seeing poking around the site. So if your target gift recipient is a Kobo user, you’re probably going to be best off giving a gift card.

If you want to give one of my books as a gift on the iBooks store, search for that book in iTunes or iBooks, and click on the dropdown arrow next to the price. You should see a menu that includes an option to “Gift this book”.

If you want to give the book as a gift on Google Play, to the best of my knowledge, it can’t be done–you have to give gift credit to the Google Play store via a gift card.

Smashwords has a “Give as a Gift” button on Faerie Blood‘s page here.

ALSO: I can’t hand-sell you my Carina titles, but I can and will hand-sell Faerie Blood as a gift to anyone in electronic form as well as print! I have EPUB, MOBI, and PDF all available, and can even make arrangements to bundle them up onto a gift CD for a recipient if so desired. As with the print edition, talk to me if you’d like to make arrangements.

Valor of the Healer’s audio edition

Don’t forget, either–Valor of the Healer is available in audio as well as ebook, so that’s a potential gift option too!

You should be able to use Amazon’s, Audible’s, or iTunes’s ability to gift audiobooks on any of those platforms.

Talk to me! And if you choose to buy any of my stuff as gifts for your loved ones, thank you in advance for your support!

Valor of the Healer, Vengeance of the Hunter

New samples for Valor and Vengeance!

Harlequin alerted us authors at Carina to a Nifty Thing: namely, that you can sample our books before committing to buying them, courtesy of functionality up on!

I have therefore elected to add the Overdrive samples for both Valor of the Healer and Vengeance of the Hunter to their respective pages! Go to the Valor page or the Vengeance page and look for the “Read an excerpt” links. You should see the Overdrive sample come up in a popup window (note: this only works if you have Javascript active).

If you’d like to go directly over to the Overdrive pages for each book and see the samples there, you can do that here and here.

All hail the folks at Harlequin for making this available to its authors!

Valor of the Healer

Quick update for any international readers

Hi all!

I’ve been investigating a problem reported to me about Valor of the Healer on Australian sites, since the book’s still on sale for 99 cents. It had not been deployed properly to iTunes Australia, which made no sense given that they have Vengeance of the Hunter available, as well as Valor‘s audiobook. Carina Press’s people in charge of deploying our books out to third-party channels have happily gotten that resolved for me, and now both Valor and Vengeance are available to Australian customers via iBooks.

The bad news though is that I’m also told that Australian channels are not participating in the current price promotion, and that the Australian channels do their own promotions. Which would explain why Valor is not showing up at a lower price on iTunes Australia or on Amazon Australia.

So if you’re in Australia (or anywhere else besides North America and the UK, which are the places that the 99 cent promo is actually active), and you want to take advantage of the sale price, the best thing to do is to go straight to Carina’s own site and buy it there. I’m told directly from our senior editor that we don’t have any territorial restrictions on who can buy books on the site. So any issues with buying the book there would be technical, not based on territorial rights, and the site’s customer support people should be able to assist.

If you are outside North America and the UK, and you have issues with getting either of my Carina books, do let Carina’s customer service people know. But let me know, too, if you would, just so I know what’s going on! I have faith that Carina’s people will be on top of any issues you run into and will get you set up, but I like to be in the loop too.

Thanks again to all for your support!
