Kickstarter rewards update

Today, I spent a great deal of time taking care of various aspects of dealing with Kickstarter rewards to send out to people, so here’s a quick status update on that!

Those of you who supported the project, if you bought in on any reward tier that entitles you to Faerie Blood, you should be getting access to a big ol’ pile of digital versions of the cover art real soon now. Dara’s spinning off a huge assortment of resolutions, to cover not only computers but a variety of mobile devices as well!

Meanwhile, now that we have the confirmed final list of backers, we’re getting all the names into the new edition of Faerie Blood so that Dara can finish up the layout of the print and PDF versions, and I can put together the epub and mobi and any other versions we’re going to spin off.

I will also soon be working on deploying “The Blood of the Land” in digital form to all backers entitled to that, too.

A huge chunk of today went as well to organizing all my backer data and breaking it down by rewards, so that I have a clear list of who all gets what–and specifically, how many print copies I’ll need of both books, how many postcards, and how many posters. I am pleased to report that my original project estimate of about 50 print copies is about right, with some wiggle room for a few extra copies left over. Which will serve as my very first copies I’ll be able to make available to folks who didn’t get in on the Kickstarter in time!

And, I was pleased to be able to send off the first payment for art delivered to Kiri Moth. SO EXCITING. ๐Ÿ˜€ Huge, HUGE thanks go out to all of you out there who’ve made it possible for me to get Kiri to do such gorgeous work!

No actual writing done today–but then, all of this project work needed doing as well, so I consider it a productive day indeed! Tomorrow there will be some Folklife, but there will also be working on Bone Walker!

Look what just showed up in my inbox, Internets!

Ladies and gentlemen, Kiri (all hail her mighty pens and Photoshop) has sent me the very first glimpse of your favorite bard and mine, Elessir a’Natharion!

He needs some tweaking to strike that exact right balance between ‘a Sidhe version of Elvis’ and ‘all of my mental pictures of what elves should look like is totally influenced by Elfquest‘–but nonetheless, this is a damn fine initial try. Especially with the hair. Elessir is all about the hair!

LAST CALL on the Kickstarter, folks!

132 backers! 122% funding! $4,918.23 total raised so far! This is a nice bit of padding above and beyond the soundtrack stretch goal, and every bit of it will make Kendis’ Book Three happen all that much faster.

We are almost to closing time now, people, so if you’ve been waffling about whether to jump in, now’s the time and this is the link! The project expires at 6:01pm EDT tonight, 3:01pm PDT!

Sure would be nice if I could kick up over $5K by closing time! Anybody out there wanna help me make it happen, there’s always room for more–at least until the project runs out! Grab a chair, raise a jar, and help me wind this kitchen party down. ๐Ÿ˜€

Last call for Kickstarter!

I hit funding several days ago, but now my Kickstarter’s finally about to run out! 29 hours to go as of this writing!

So here’s my last call, folks–if anybody wants in on the second edition of Faerie Blood + first release of Bone Walker goodness, now is the time! And here is the place:

Cracked 50K on Bone Walker yesterday and will be making a hard, hard push to get it to JoSelle for editing by the end of this month. Artist Kiri Moth is researching sketching for my character Elessir for the Bone Walker cover and I cannot WAIT to see what she does with him, or to deliver these books. ๐Ÿ˜€

As with Great Big Sea fandom, there’s always room for more! So jump in if you feel inclined, signal boost out to appropriate channels, and let’s see how far I can run this thing up before the clock finally runs out!

Thanks very much to all who have already supported, and thanks for anything y’all do!

Kickstarter update: The soundtrack goal has been achieved!

I woke up this morning to discover that backer #115, Adila, has pushed us over the $4,500 mark! This means, ladies and gentlemen, that Dara and I will therefore be officially deploying the soundtrack for all backers at $25 or above!

This is great news for the final week of the project! But don’t forget, we still have about six days left–and if we make $5,500, I will be deploying Book Three as well to all backers who chose a reward tier that gets them Books 1 and 2! (In other words, the $20 level for both ebooks, or the $50 for both paperbacks!)

So keep your signals flying all, and let’s see just how far we can take this thing in the project’s final days. Thank you, thank you all so much, for your support. I really hope you’ll like the stories–and the music!–that Dara and I will be able to give you now!

Always room for more backers, right over here! ๐Ÿ˜€

Kickstarter update: For those of you interested in the soundtrack

Picked up quite a few backers over the weekend, even after the project rolled over into full funding! YAY! \0/

Opening up nice and strong this week, with just over a week to go, and we are a scant $163.77 to go until Dara and I can offer the Faerie Blood and Bone Walker soundtrack. With that in mind, I’m delighted to report that Crime and the Forces of Evil have released a new album today called Cracksman Betty, which should give y’all good idea of the sound we’ll be shooting for with the soundtrack!

Cracksman Betty has less trad than the soundtrack will, and there will of course be a fiddle on the soundtrack album. But this one’s also got a guest appearance by Leannan Sidhe, and I’ll particularly call your attention to tracks 1 and 5, where Dara’s lyrics and energy there will be forerunners of the original material she’ll be cooking up for the soundtrack. Plus, her writing of trad for an alternate timeline that never happened pleases me greatly, since that’ll be really rather what she’s doing for my books!

So go check out Dara’s post about the album and then go check out the album itself. Let Dara know what you thought! And stick out, ’cause really, she’s only just getting started!

Meanwhile, for everybody else, I can also report that I’m now about halfway through the Bone Walker manuscript, and now that Kiri’s finished the Faerie Blood art, I’m in talks with her about what to do for the Bone Walker cover! More news on this as events warrant, and you guys will get to see character sketches of Elessir as the Book 2 art develops. I can’t wait to show him to you!

As always, thank you all very much for your support!
